This is the official PatentRenewal.com MCP server. Connect it to your AI assistant and ask about your patent and trademark renewals in plain language — deadlines, costs, statuses — straight from your terminal.

What is this?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants talk to external services. This server is the bridge between your assistant and PatentRenewal.com: once connected, the assistant can read your renewal data on your behalf and answer questions about it.
Signing in works through OAuth. The first time your AI tool connects, your browser opens a PatentRenewal.com sign-in page — use your regular account credentials. There are no API keys to create or paste, the connection acts with exactly your permissions, and access expires automatically.
The set of available tools evolves over time, so it is not listed here. Once connected, just ask your assistant what it can do with PatentRenewal.
Try asking
Ask in plain language — the assistant works out which data to pull, chaining several lookups when a question spans your whole portfolio. For example:
- Which patents and trademarks do I own, and what is the status of each?
- List all my renewals that are still pending.
- Look up the IP with reference EP1234567 and tell me its current renewal state.
- Show me my patents and the latest renewal for each.
- Which of my IPs have a renewal due in the next 90 days, and what will they cost in total?
- Break down my upcoming renewals by cost center, with fees and due dates.
- Show the instruction history for a patent — when was it last set to renew or abandon?
- Give me a portfolio snapshot: how many IPs per owner, and how many have a pending renewal.

Open Settings → Connectors, click Add custom connector, and paste the endpoint:
Click Add, then Connect to sign in.
Claude on the web
On claude.ai, the steps are the same: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the endpoint, then connect and sign in. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner must first add the connector under Organization settings → Connectors.
Heads up: Claude's chat mode doesn't currently see custom connectors. In Claude Desktop and on claude.ai, switch to Cowork or Code mode to use PatentRenewal tools.

If you already ran the CLI steps above, the server is already there — Codex Desktop and the CLI share ~/.codex/config.toml.
